In working with an organization that has a compelling mission and a large community of extraordinary individuals, I-ology, Inc.- a leading Scottsdale-based web technology firm-launched a completely redeveloped website for Special Olympics Arizona.
I-ology has worked closely with Special Olympics Arizona since 2008, helping advance their mission not only across the state but also, by increasing their visibility internationally through the execution of an engaging and intuitive online experience. The new SpecialOlympicsArizona.org website emphasizes ease of use for coaches, athletes and volunteers within the various communities throughout Arizona.
I-ology built the new website with a full content management system by implementing the Microsoft .NET Orchard platform. It allows more administrative control for Special Olympics Arizona including the ability to update content, media, and events. Additionally, the site was redeveloped to be fully responsive giving users a consistent viewing experience across all of their devices, including mobile, tablet, and desktop.
Special Olympics Arizona also wanted to emphasize the 6 different areas in which coaches, athletes, and volunteers can participate. A new, interactive map of Arizona is broken out into the six defined areas, allowing users to see what type of events are held in each geographic area. A custom event calendar was also created and designed for people to stay informed and ultimately participate in upcoming events.

“Special Olympics Arizona is thrilled with the new website I-ology has created,” said Tim Martin, President and CEO. “Their team was great to work with. They incorporated our needs and ideas throughout the process and we now have a site that looks great and is easy to use.”
The new site features the strategic alliance with the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), Special Olympics Arizona’s single largest fundraising and supporting entity in the state. LETR consists of police officers all around the state of Arizona who promote, support and raise money for Special Olympics Arizona all throughout the year. LETR also participates nationally in a series of intra-state/intra-nation runs that raise funds for Special Olympics athletes.
